Commercialising Quantum Global 2025: Setting the agenda

Economist Impact's annual Commercialising Quantum Global is one of the highlights of the quantum calendar.

The event brings together the entire industry ecosystem to translate quantum science and technology into strategy, scalability, and commercial value. With quantum advancing rapidly, industry, academia, government, and media come to the summit to debate and discuss the path forward, balancing quantum’s promise, peril, applications, limitations, and realities.

For the second year running, TFD supported Economist Impact to bring Commercialising Quantum Global to life, driving visibility of the event in advance, securing business and trade journalists to attend, and increasing value for sponsors.

Standing out in the noisy event landscape

Following the success of 2024's event, this year's summit aimed to be even bigger. With 2025 marking the UNESCO International Year of Quantum, there has been increased buzz about the technology - creating both opportunities for engagement and a challenge to cut through the noise.

As an exclusively in-person event competing in an increasingly crowded field of quantum conferences, Commercialising Quantum Global needed to differentiate itself from other tech trade events. TFD quickly got to work to increase visibility of the show, highlight the calibre of speakers, and make it stand out to top-tier journalists.

Our Approach

To achieve this, we ran a comprehensive press office, focussed on securing quality journalist attendance through proactive outreach and a regular drumbeat of news.

Central to our approach was Economist Impact’s first-ever "2025 Quantum Pulse Check" survey. TFD devised the survey questions to pique media interest and offer a view into the sector’s opportunities and challenges. We then announced the results to the press on World Quantum Day to maximise impact and engagement.

At a time when every quantum company is announcing its (often conflicting) predictions, the report provided unique insights into industry opinions on future outlook, investment priorities, and the sector’s take on the hype and reality of this emerging technology.

Our sponsor support programme included press release distribution on-site, collaborative intelligence sharing, and coordinated outreach to maximise success. This approach ensured open communication channels and a collaborative environment that benefited the entire ecosystem represented at the event.

Key Results

These efforts resulted in exceptional media engagement, with over 20 registered journalists and analysts from prestigious publications including The Times, Wired, TIME, The Telegraph, and Computer Weekly. Notable analyst attendance included representatives from Omdia, Forrester, and Appledore Research.

The strong media attendance generated opportunities for coverage and buzz around the event. We supported sponsors with news distribution and briefings, resulting in coverage in a host of key publications, including The Times.

The inaugural Quantum Pulse Check report also generated significant media interest, securing coverage across major trade publications including Computer Weekly, The Next Web, and Telecoms.com. The buzz continued after the event, with journalists who attended writing multiple articles, including BI Foresight and Computer Weekly, further increasing value for key sponsors and Economist Impact.

In total, the summit generated a high cadence of coverage in high-impact publications, with a potential viewership of 2.6 million, successfully positioning the event as the front-runner in the quantum industry.

Naomi Stewart, Marketing Lead, Trade and Technology Events at Economist Impact, said, "TFD's media approach massively helped us make Commercialising Quantum Global 2025 our biggest summit yet. This is our second year partnering with TFD and the team’s expertise in a highly technical area really shone through, especially the new survey initiative, which delivered valuable, informative, and timely content to really drum up excitement and buzz. The team worked proactively to secure high-calibre media attendees and support our exhibitors both in the lead-up and during the event."
